I’m back from my August travels and throughout the month I’ve visited a few countries in Europe. The most important place though, was the southern part of Germany, where I’ve lived right after I left East Germany back in April of 1989 as a naïve 21 year old.
The few years I’ve lived in that southern German region of Lake Constance have been a significant time period for me as I experienced for the very first time what life without family, friends and guidance on any of life’s challenges means. I was truly on my own.
(Btw, I realized after shooting the video that I got the history wrong; it’s actually almost 30 years ago. Be kind, I’m getting old 😉 )
And as I mention in the video, I failed in a lot more things than I succeeded and the time spent, the few years I’ve lived in that area, taught me a great deal.
Some of those experiences followed me for a long time still, wherever I went, because I didn’t handle them well or not at all. Some made me closed off or frightened to try them again.
So the next few posts will be about the most significant of those experiences and lessons that shaped me as they are the areas in which I get the most conversation and counseling requests.
I’m sharing my stories in support of anyone who is going through a tough time, needs some inspiration, a sounding board or even guidance.
